Why am I running for a seat on the GRCC Board of Trustees?
I’m a strong advocate of emphasizing the importance of the “soft skills”in the classroom necessary for success in a career and in life. Our duty is not only to graduate knowledgeable, skilled people, but also persons of integrity, responsibility & reliability. I want to continue to be a voice on the Board of Trustees that ensures that Grand Rapids Community College graduates are the most desirable candidates for employment in our community.
Sheryl serves on the board of iCI Nation, an organization that strengthens the city through connecting neighborhood organizations, schools, youth centers, and community agencies with law enforcement. iCI is unique in its mission to build trust between cops and the community.
“Congratulations to the GRCC Police Department for attaining the highest accreditation award given by the Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police! Chief Rebecca Whitman and her colleagues volunteered for the rigorous 3 year process to ensure that the department is serving the GRCC community to the highest standards.”
